Micro-morphological characters in Polypodiaceae and its taxonomic significance

The present study insights into the interrelationships and taxonomic segregation of some Polypodiaceous fern taxa based on leaf architecture foliar micro-morphology. Twenty-seven species were examined valuable qualitative quantitative data obtained to generate UPGMA dendrogram. A dichotomous key differentiating was prepared. Results reveal that even though have overlapping characters, certain specific traits prove taxonomically valuable. results proved like shape, higher order venation, stomatal epidermal features are indeed important diagnostic characters hence can be used for identification in their immature stage or absence sori. These sets often combined with other morphological as well molecular would contribute phylogenetic particularly large complex family Polypodiaceae.
